Ryn worked on publicity for my book “From a Shadow Grave” (released late 2019). She showed professionalism, creativity, and boundless enthusiasm, generating genuine excitement about my work. She worked on a range of publicity opportunities, including press releases, radio interviews, social media events, and a well-attended launch. I am delighted to recommend Ryn as a book publicist, especially for science fiction and fantasy works.Andi C. Buchanan, author
“Ryn did a great job during her time with us. Her editing, proofreading and research skills were of high-quality, and she added many thoughtful and creative ideas to our projects. Ryn was a pleasure to work with.”Matt Comesky, Lift Education
I offer services in editing, writing, and publicity.
As an editor, I have experience with acquisitions, developmental, and proofreading and copyediting.
In the past, I edited articles for Twin Cities Geek Magazine for eighteen months before writing for their Domestic Geekdom section. While I was a teacher, I also was an editor for a year with MinneTESOL, the professional association of ESOL teachers in Minnesota and the upper midwest.
In 2019, I edited two projects. The first was a collection of poetry titled Squirt by Kate Spencer. The second was Wairoa, a play by Hone Kouka I updated and edited as my student project for the Graduate Diploma in Publishing (Applied).
In 2020, I worked on proofreading academic articles, speculative fiction short stories, and newsletters. I’ve also edited a press release for a freelance internet content creator, ZuyaDragon. Additionally, I worked on editing, proofreading, and newsletter creation for WitchyFiction.
As a publicist, I have experience writing book blurbs (summaries), press releases, and in contacting media. In 2019, I worked as the publicist for From a Shadow Grave by Andi C. Buchanan. In 2020, I worked on publicity for a MG fantasy novel set in New Zealand as well as a YA/NA fantasy novel set in Oregon.
I am also happy to help develop synopses, blurbs and summaries, and other material for your books.
In 2021, I expect two SFF novels I edited to be published through an American publisher as well as several books I’ve proofread to be self-published. I am seeking more editorial work, whether as a developmental editor or proofreader.
